Automatic
Lubricators... Are They Worth It?
Youve
seen them at the trade shows. You have seen them on
equipment and trucks. You even have seen them on industrial
stationary equipment. But do they really work as well
as they say... automatic greasers and lubricators,
that is?
Normally, we don't talk about a single product or
service in LubeTalk... however we get all excited
when we spot a solution to an age old problem. This
week, we discovered such a product and are thrilled
to bring it to you first.
The
labor issue
Lubrication
of greaseable equipment, whether it be a truck or
a conveyer system, can be a tedious, labor intensive
proposition. You send out your lube technician with
one basic tool... the grease gun. Grease guns are
a reliable technology, however, they really haven't
been improved for many years.
Sometimes,
your lube tech may be in a hurry, or he/she may not
have the right grease in the gun for that particular
job. Greasing important greaseable points is a 'blind'
proposition. The technician doesn't really know perhaps,
when this point or that point was last greased. So,
it's easy for the technician to 'over-grease' an area,
while under-greasing another.
The
next thing you know... expensive bearing failure,
either because a seal was blown out, or the bearing
was starved for lubricant. Is there a better way?
A
possible alternative
We
are here to tell you that we are very excited to actually
see an automatic lubricator that works in this industry
and many other applications. There are many of these
so called automatic greasers on the market,
but we have seen a lot that fail... pump grease on
the ground and also over grease the application to
a point that grease blows out the seals.
Until now, we have found one that we just have to
share with all of you. This great, easy to operate,
automatic lubricator has many important features and
benefits:
-
Special 1-piece air pump designed for reliable and
accurate performance.
-
Anodized body for extremely durable easy clean surface.
-
Uses the latest biodegradable greases.
- Translucent
reservoir for visual grease level indication.
- Internal
venting control levels that prevents external aeration.
-
Single steel line outlet to ensure simple maintenance.
- Capable
of lubing from 1 to 150 lube points.
- The
ability to lube the truck and trailer with only
1 pump.
Things
to consider
This
unit has been specifically designed to give the minimum
of maintenance requirements, by using a single steel
main line and an all air-operated chassis mounted
pump.
Chassis
lubrication, impervious to climatic and working conditions,
this manufacturer ensures that only rugged components
are exposed to the elements. Please note that the
electronic time/controller is cab mounted for safety.
All these factors lead to proven reliability and performance.
The manufacturer also supplies an automotive chassis
lubrication system that is capable of being expanded
from 1-150 different grease points for lubrication
on tractors and trailers.
Just
the right amount
The
unique thing here is... it's the only system that
allows one person to visually check the entire truck
in five minutes by using either the remote control
or extension cord control.
Offering
5 different injection meter discharge sizes and different
time interval settings, the system can be tailor made
to give maximum benefit for all types of operationfrom
the exacting demands of stop/start refuse vehicles
to long distance trucks and distribution vehicles
With
its 1,200 psi pump, you can feel the pulse going through
the grease lines. If you feel the pulse it means the
system is working correctly. If you don't feel the
pulse, simply remove the meter, take it apart, clean
it, and reinstall it. Simple, fast and efficient.
The
bottom line... R.O.I.
The
manufacturer has case studies, that validates the
systems use and shows how quickly one of these auto
lubricators can pay for themselves, then continue
giving bottom-line savings year in and year out.
